Sculptor. Clay Historian.
This website presents a selection of past and current works in clay, ceramic and bronze.
When I was a youngster the people who traveled through my life fascinated me - people of all ages from so many different cultures.
As an adult and an art lover I set out on a path to immortalize the faces of my subjects through the medium of clay. I have been told I have an innate ability to extract the essence of people through my sculptures. Older people whose life experiences are etched on their faces are my most important source of inspiration - I see laughter, anger, sorrow, pain and passion.
I am curious about people and their life stories. With every piece of work I create, before I ever begin molding the clay, I research the life of that particular individual and, eventually, come to know them well enough. It is only then that I attempt to capture a piece of their soul.
Every work has an epiphany moment where the subject appears in the shaping of the clay.
Their stories always will be with me.
